Good to know that, thank you very much for answering!

I downloaded and opened (doubleclicked) the Aquamacs-Emacs-1.9.dmg again.
Inside, it looks fairly complete to me.
I tried to copy it to the Mac /Applications directory first by putting it
on the link to it within the opend .dmg without seeing a result. So I put
by holding the pointer directly to the /Applications directory. And it
copied thereto.
But doubleclicking it gave no reaction, again.
I opened the .dmg again, this time I looked it by choosing in the Finder
the opend Aquamacs Emacs "disc" (below Macintosh HD), with the icon view
with in the middle the Aquacacs Emacs icon on the left, the Applications
(folder) link at the right, in between the finger/hand pointing the folder
link (below written "To install, drag the Aquamacs to your Applications
folder or elseware") I dragged it to the Applications folder link - it
copied again for a while, closed the .dmg "disc" and tried again
doubleclicking the "Aquamacs Emacs.app" in the Applications folder.
No visable reaction.
I tried it in the Terminal by:
$ ./Aquamacs\ Emacs.app/
-bash: ./Aquamacs Emacs.app/: is a directory
The more (though knowing that this would not go) I did let me "show
content" and in the folder
/Applications/Aquamacs\ Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/
doubleclicked on the "Aquamacs Emacs" exec with the terminal answer:
----------------------
localhost:/Applications/Aquamacs Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS joachim$
/Applications/Aquamacs\ Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Aquamacs\ Emacs; exit

I called the Konsole window. My problem is, that I don't get wise by the
thousends lines, not even do I know, in which of the hundreds log files to
look.
Could you please specify a little bit for me ignorant?
Any other hint how I should proceed?
