There's something wrong, definitely.

Please check your init files: .emacs and Preferences.el.
There should be no `customize' section in your .emacs (nor in your Preferences.el).
~/.emacs.d folder as well.

Perhaps have a look at *Messages* for information about what is loaded during startup.
