[OS X Emacs] Accessing config "." files and other files that finder doesn't normally see

Hi,

I would really like to be able to use Aquamacs to edit config files, both
"." files and files outside of Finder's normal purview (e.g., files in /etc
or /usr/local).  Is there a way to do that with Aquamacs or is it only
feasible via the command line from the shell?
