[OS X Emacs] emacsclient with aquamacs: error opening socket

The 'load-history' variable says that 'server' was provided by

    /Applications/Aquamacs.app/Contents/Resources/lisp/server.elc

invoking the direct path to emacsclient inside the app bundle (as you 
have above) produces the same error.
