[OS X Emacs] unicode characters change interline space

This is normal: two different fonts are used. (Position the text cursor on a character and type C-u C-x =; in *Help* buffer you'll get a description of this character.) By creating a fontset you can choose which font (at which size) is used to display characters from the specified range of Unicode characters.
