[OS X Emacs] problem with auctex

I have been meaning to post it.  I just haven’t had time yet.  Please feel free to post yourself.

I do have a LaTeX-verbatim-environments call in my Preferences.el, but commenting it out doesn’t get rid of the message.  So it could be that another package (ess?) is using it.  Also, I cannot find any documentation for font-lock-flush.  So advising to use font-lock-flush isn’t helpful without examples of how to use it to replace the older functions.
