I get Warning: 
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdflatex (file 8r.en
c): cannot open encoding file for reading

But 8r.enc is here, I re-installed it by hand and kpsewhich 8r.enc 
gives me ./8r.enc

As I said before: I used a TL2004 for quite some time, the problems 
only appeared with the latest update. I have just completely 
re-installed the TeX-package with no success.
