The biggest problem is that one needs a standard, the fonts aren't
standardized, and the extant latex way of doing things is computer
modern centric and makes decisions which make it difficult to implement
what can be done with fonts other than Computer Modern to the same
standard of abstraction which Latex (rightly) requires.
Will (Robertson), I've got to get a push on to finish my TUG2003 paper,
right after that, I'll dust off the long fontname convention I'd worked
up, and send it to you by private e-mail and we'll find a good place to
discuss it, announce that, and hammer out an implementation.
