You should be able to do this - dragging an entry between open files
copies the entry, and dragging an entry onto the edit window for
another entry copies over any fields that have no set value.

This is an old favorite feature request that hasn't quite made it in
yet, because other things always seem more important to do first (speed
improvements, encoding issues or macro support, for instance)

To get emails when there's movement on this, you can track this
sourceforge tracker item:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?
func=detail&aid=613071&group_id=61487&atid=497426

Also a longstanding feature request: see
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?
func=detail&aid=1013049&group_id=61487&atid=497426

Unfortunately the BibDesk project is not teeming with developers, but
we try to get to what we can to keep improving it. Thanks for the
feedback!

It's in the works!

Thanks,
