[OS X TeX] Installation toasted (altpdftex to simpdftex)

You'll need to reset TeXShop preferences. Where it now says

     altpdflatex --maxpfb

it should say

     simpdftex latex --maxpfb

and where it says

     altpdftex --maxpfb

it should now say

     simpdftex tex --maxpfb

and likewise. The altpdftex scripts were already deprecated a year  
ago and that year was for the frontend providers to make sure their  
calling sequence was adapted. Now the depreciation is enforced.
