[OS X TeX] boxing equations

has anyone tried boxing equation, displaymath, eqnarray etc.? so that 
just the equations (not the equation number) are boxed? How about 
boxing equation numbers too?If I remember correctly, have done this a 
long time ago but the result was that it shrinks the equation being 
boxed so I stopped using it.
