[OS X TeX] TeX Importer and BSP Questions

Howdy,

A couple of questions regarding the TeX Spotlight Importer and BSP:

Does the importer look import anything else besides .tex files? How  
about .ltx?

I hesitated to install BSP because it makes some file changes in / 
System/CoreServices/ and I wonder what others experiences were when  
switching to 10.4.4 from 10.4.3. Did you ``revert'' to the default  
before updating? I'd love to use BSP (make categories for my .tex  
and .sty files) but I hesitate in case trouble lurks ahead.
