[OS X TeX] Re: Best Equation Editor

I've been fiddling a bit with Equation Service, LaTeXiT, and LaTeX 
Equation Editor.  Each has some nice features.

One thing I like in Equation Service is that it lets you quickly set 
BOTH the text AND the background color.  The others just have an option 
for text color.  I assume you have to put something in the preamble to 
get a background color.

Question: what does Equation Service's "transparent" background tickbox 
do?  pdf's with a white background seem to import into Keynote with a 
transparent background anyway.
