First of all prosper is a part of gwtex
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.gwtex/tex/latex/prosper
Second, powerdot is a newer package of the same author with the same
purpose (so probably prosper is retired).
Finally, the majority of people prefer beamer which is also a part of
the standard distribution; the latest is v. 3.06
On MacOSX install in
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/latex/
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/doc
and run mktexlsr after
to provide access for every user or in ~Library/texmf
