[OS X TeX] Correct page numbers without hyperref

This doesn't seem to work for me. When I use both book and amsbook,  
Preview thinks page iii is page 3, and page 1 is (in my case) page  
12. Whereas when I use report with hyperref and "pdfpagelabels=true",  
Preview thinks page iii is page iii, and page 1 is page 1.

Do you see different behaviour?
