I tried it and it doesn't work. Just to be sure, I ran through some
of the steps again. I chose install & configure for the TeX i-Package
(full, 2005). At some point it gave a warning which ran something like:
Found a XeTeX install in my location. You will have to reinstall
XeTeX after installing TeX.
Later it gave the following warning:
I found (a) personal configuration file(s) for user(s): S P Suresh.
These users will not fully use system-wide settings and their TeX
configuration is not fully covered by this system-wide configuration
phase.
I just proceeded. i-Installer finally reported that the install and
configure proceeded without any critical errors. BTW, I am a ~/
Library/texmf guy, and I have some extra fonts, and some .cls
and .sty files there.
Then I configured XeTeX, and found the following in the subprocess
output:
This is a summary of all `failed' messages and warnings:
`xetex -ini -jobname=xelatex -progname=xelatex *xelatex.ini' failed
I also tried the command you suggested at the command line. I got the
following error:
fmtutil: no info for format `xelatex.fmt'.
The same error persists even after commenting out the lines suggested
by Bernhard in language.dat. Should I go back to TeX and do a basic
install rather than a full install!?
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Suresh
