[OS X TeX] newcomer: TexTures info

Hi

I am a newcomer to the list.  Former user of Latex on OS9,
with TexTures (Bluesky Res).
Recently installed free Textures pre-release (Tex2.2a)
on my I-mac Core Duo INTEL machine.

All is fine with basic formats (article report letter book).

Some font problems with ad-hoc formats (like ieeeconf.cls,
etc).  Also, trying plain-Tex test-file Flowers
(earlier distributed by Textures) I get very funny characters
in the dvi typeset page.

Obviously a font problem.  Tried help from Bluesky, got some
but..not enough: font problem remains.

Has any kind soul more to say about it, and above all:

QUESTION: what fonts what folders and where should be created
to have decent operation?
