[OS X TeX] Staying on the right PATH (or something)

Howdy,

As a side question but still on topic:

Is there a reason one doesn't force loading of a login shell via

#!/bin/bash -l

since that would automatically load the environment. Is it more a  
security thing since you then have no control over what else loads?  
Are there other implications?

As you can see, I'm no *ix expert, just a patzer.
