[OS X TeX] hyperref and apacite

Greetings!

I have tried it all and googled a lot but it seems that it is not
possible to have correct APA citations and references and hyperref at
the same time.

I really like to be able to generate a table of contents and specify
properties in the PDFs that I generate.

Does anyone have an idea?  Is there an alternative to the package
hyperref?   I have to have perfect APA citations otherwise my papers
will be rejected, and apacite does a wonderful job but conflicts with
hyperref.
