[OS X TeX] Embedding Movie Files (Beamer)

I'm trying to get a presentation working using Beamer. It's being
compiled into a dvi, then changed a pdf (dvipdf), then opened using
xpdf (or Acrobat Reader). However, the embedded avi files doesn't want
to play. The command I'm using is,

\pgfdeclareimage[height=6.5cm,width=7.5cm]{lastframe}{lastframe}
\movie{\pgfuseimage{lastframe}}{example.avi}

Is there something special I have to do to make sure the video is
embedded? The videos are all available in the same directory -- as are
all the usual images and figures.
