[OS X TeX] TeXShop selection tool

In the absence of rulers and guides in the TeXShop preview window, I  
have tried to use the selection tool to measure distances in a typeset  
document. It works, but only to a point. At  
Preview>Magnification>Actual Size, the distances shown are accurate.  
At other magnifications, the distances are multiplied by the scale.  
Would it be possible to have TeXShop return the correct distance  
regardless of the current scaling?
