Howdy,

Just one point. it is not clear that TeX Live is at the stage where it won't be necessary to update to a 2010 version. The necessity for a 2008->2009 full update is that there were several major changes in the organization of the files. Until that stabilizes (we can hope it's stable now!) there will be a necessity for an ``annual'' system update.
