This seems to indicate that never a 'sudo texhash' is done. You can  
check the success of the installation by running on the command line

	kpsewhich <one of the package's files>

and by listing with tlmgr the contents of the packages and then check  
whether they really exist on disk.


The problem with the pplr9d file looks a bit strange. It belongs to  
the Adobe Palatino font and should be in the psnfss or psnfssx lw35??  
packages. You'd also need to update the MAP files in order to use the  
PostScript fonts – which are not free. The real ones. Urw++ has  
donated clones to TeX and Ghostscript.
