Regardless of your assertion, you >are< using teTeX, because your PATH  
key in the ~/MacOSX/environment.plist precludes everything else that  
is in your ~/.bashrc, your ~/.bash_profile, ~/.tcshrc or your ~/.cshrc.

This is no fault of yours. You may want to do the following and then  
retry:
mv ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist.bak

If you need to recover, then:
mv ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist.bak ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist
