I am coming late into this thread, as I am on digest mode.
I believe the tex&ghostscript thing was already well explained, so...

Welcome to PSTricks :-)
It is an incredibly powerful and elegant tool that I've used for years  
for many mathematical drawings.
Its consistency and integration with (La)TeX make me far more  
productive than I could otherwise be.

I'd like to second the suggestion to put

  \usepackage{pst-all}

to load (most) everything and not worry which is which.
