This is with your private MAP file. You can correct this by first
updmap --disable culmus.map
and then re-enabling it.

As root execute updmap-sys instead of updmap.

Check with kpsewhich whether this file exists! (If not, complete the
installation.) At least it looks like some parts of ivritex have
found the way into your private MAP file. (If your system is
correctly set up, then you can delete your private .texlive2008 tree
to get rid of all faulty things.)
