There have been some recent changes to biblatex (from v. 0.8 to 0.9  
which have required updates of the styles that depend on biblatex.   
Check to see that the version of chicago-notes-df that you have is  
compatible with the version of biblatex that you have, and update if  
necessary.

Also, since biblatex was formerly in the experimental part of CTAN and  
not part of TeXLive (although it is now) is it possible that you have  
an older version of biblatex in your ~/Library/texmf folder?
