Howdy,
Those extra files are usually resource forks (._xxxxx) and .DS_Store files.
Look at `Clean Archiver' at <http://www.sopht.jp/cleanarchiver/> and download the 2.4a4 version (very stable in spite of the `a' designation) from the Download page at <http://www.sopht.jp/cleanarchiver/downloads.html>. That software allows you to remove those files when compressing.
