> Those extra files are usually resource forks (._xxxxx) and .DS_Store files.
> Look at `Clean Archiver' at <http://www.sopht.jp/cleanarchiver/> and download the 2.4a4 version (very stable in spite of the `a' designation) from the Download page at <http://www.sopht.jp/cleanarchiver/downloads.html>. That software allows you to remove those files when compressing.

Ooops... you'll need to get the 3.0a6 version if you wish to remove the resource forks as well as the .DS_Store files.
