I thought I replied to this on the list before. Maybe not.
The errors above (which you don't report!) imply that you've got TeXShop->Preferences->Misc->pTeX support->utf export checked. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THAT CHECKED! Then do a Save As… and overwite the old file.
I'd also suggest that you put the lines
% !TEX TS-program = pdflatex
% !TEX encoding = UTF-8 Unicode
at the top of your file. The first just reminds TeXShop to use pdflatex to compile the file just in case the default gets changed. The second reminds TeXShop that the encoding of the file is UTF-8 encoded just in case the default gets changed.
