I know. I even get:

new-host:~ andre$ texhash
-bash: texhash: command not found

Am I right in guessing that an upgrading of my OS is the cause of this loss? 

I still use TeXLive 2008. Do you think an upgrading to TeXLive 2010 will cure the problem?
