General TeX questions better to be asked at texhax but MacOSX specific
questions on
MacOSX-TeX at email.esm.psu.edu

Looks like your MacTeX (is it 2010?) was not installed properly. Try
to reinstall it.

Can you see in System Preferences "TeX Distribution"?
Do you have /usr/local/texlive  ?
Do you have /usr/texbin -> texbin ->
/Library/TeX/Distributions/.DefaultTeX/Contents/Programs/texbin
Do you have /usr/texbin in your path?
