Let's assume that you have the contents of the branch /Users/zbigniewnitecki/Library/texmf/bibtex in your Dropbox. So you can rename your local directory /Users/zbigniewnitecki/Library/texmf/bibtex to, for example, /Users/zbigniewnitecki/Library/texmf/bibtex-orig and create a symbolic or sym-link /Users/zbigniewnitecki/Library/texmf/bibtex instead which points to the where the Dropbox volume is mounted to your file system. For example:

	ln -s /Volumes/Dropbox /Users/zbigniewnitecki/Library/texmf/bibtex

This ought to work… (because TeX would find the path element bibtex in your private area and follow it to the external Dropbox volume)
