Howdy,

The FixMacTeX201x.pkg file is located in /Applications/TeX along with the GUI apps supplied by MacTeX. It is only used with the year of its date. I believe it has only been supplied with MacTeX 2012 and 2013.

Migration Assistant seems to remove a couple of simple text files that are used by the system to create the PATH and MANPATH variables used by Terminal. It also fixes /usr/texbin and any problems with the data structures that the TeX Distribution Preference Pane uses. ... I think I've got that correct. But it is set up for a particular year and can't be used universally.
