[OS X TeX] Trying to upgrade to MacTex 2012 : Font errors

Where are these? Where are the MAP files? Does kpsewhich find all these files? Do you see pdftex.map listed in pdftex's LOG file?

Not known to me.

You certainly have to! In TeX Live 2007 I had my config file in

	~/.texlive2007/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg

and the resulting MAP files were found for example in

	~/.texlive2007/texmf-var/fonts/map/pdftex/updmap/pdftex.map

As you can see, they were only valid for TeX Live 2007 and I had to "port" them to TeX Live 2008 and later to TL '09.
