[OS X TeX] \overleftrightarrow

How do you load amstex.sty by Plain TeX?
I tried

\input amstex.sty

but it didn't work.

> That's in fact an AMS command, not a basic LaTeX command. In LaTeX, that's usually loaded with \usepackage{amsmath}, but the command may also found in amstex.sty which can be loaded by Plain TeX.
