Axel,

To answer my own question, installing MacTeX adds a LuaLaTeX document by
Will Robertson to /Applications/TeX. Typesetting this document for the first time
runs luaotfload and after processing a few fonts, this in turn calls Kluaotfload
which processes a number of fonts, and then runs into non-aligned pointer
problems and eventually quits with a Segmentation fault.

I'll pass this information on.

How did you manage to isolate the Chinese fonts and thus bypass the error?
