Thanks for the information. I’m not quite sure yet about the proper way to go from 2014-pretest to 2014 final. I updated the server in Tex Live Utility and I already get the updates. So the TL part works. But what about the MacTeX-specific part like the prefs pane, ghostscript et al.? The GUI applications are not really a problem since they can be updated independently.
