Zsh is largely a superset of both shell families, so it’s not that different from bash. But if using bash is a deal-breaker, then you can change your login shell back to bash without mucking with startup files.
chsh -s /bin/bash
The shell you change to this way must be listed in /etc/shells, and bash of course is. You can even (Yikes!) change it to /bin/csh!
