I'm trying to move more of the logic into the config/make process
itself, but it's not always easy. Shell scripting is easier and more
familiar to me than autoconf and/or make environments..

On this subject, Peter I notice there is an --enable-locallisppath
argument handled in emacs/configure.in. Is there some reason we
couldn't use this in some way instead of the compile script
modification?
