... but you left the one in /Library/Fonts - I would try removing that.

If I keep Monaco.ttf enabled in OS X, I get a warning message from the system when Aquamacs starts up: "There is a conflict with the “MONACO.TTF” font file."    (Things end up working fine in Aquamacs 1.9, though.)

If removing Monaco.ttf doesn't work for you, we can investigate some more.  Let me know.
