[OS X TeX] TeXShopMisbehavior

I recently upgraded to v2.09a of TeXShop, and have been using it with  
no trouble for a week or two.

Today when I tried to typeset a .tex document, TeX froze with an  
error message "On error: <return>,X,X|<token>, etc.

This now happens whatever document I try to typeset.

What's going on?
