I have in my ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist one unique variable, which  
after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.4 this month still is present in  
Terminal -- and in TeXShop 2.08.

In my test I added

	env | sort -o <absolute path name>

to one engine. In sort's output file I can see the variable.
