[OS X TeX] No output with LaTeXit and Mac Tex 2008?

I had precisely the same problem on a completely fresh install of BOTH 
MacTeX and the MacTeXtras LaTeXiT (on a brand ew Mac freshly upgraded to 
10.5.5.)
